BRIEF HISTORY OF RESEARCH CENTRE
The Radiation Lab University Malaya (UM) is one of the active research laboratories located in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science. The Radiation Laboratory UM was initially organized in the 1960's as the first radiation University laboratory established in Malaysia for the purpose of conducting research and development (R&D) directed by Professor Abid Hussein. It has evolved over time, following the technological evolution of materials, equipments and processess prior to expand awareness in the country of the importance of radiation physics and laid foundations for the advancement of its applications to medicine, in industry, in characterising its presence of radiation in the environment, in archaeometry and in cultural heritage. The Radiation Laboratory UM provides training, teaching, coaching and mentoring from the undergraduate level all the way through to postgraduate education, as well as in industry.
