Material Characterization Laboratory or known as Makmal Peralatan Khas is equipped with a few advanced equipments provided through a grant awarded by the Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. Some of the major equipments for research on materials that are available in the lab are Micro Raman Spectrometer, High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy. Characterization, when used in materials science, refers to the broad and general process by which a material's structure and properties are probed and measured.
An important aspect of materials science is the characterization of the materials that we use or study in order to learn more about them. Today, there is a vast array of scientific techniques available to the materials scientist that enables this characterization. Facilities enhance the student educational experience and create a climate for interdisciplinary studies.
